You will fall in love with this unique handcrafted glass pendant from Artistic Expressions by Sandra A Wills.
       

A layer of clear glass is fused over a lovely piece of iridescent blue glass to set the landscape for the glass enamel tree decal with green leaves. This is a lovely and attention getting piece. The silver plated celtic-knot bail fits most chains and cords. This is a large pendant, approximately 1.75″ L x 1.75″ W. The art glass was fired first to make the pendant base. The enamel decal was fused onto the top layer of glass after the initial fusing.

All glass pieces by Sandra go through multiple firings to ensure their strength and durability, and are fired at temps of up to 1500-degrees. Most pieces require multiple firings in the kiln for multiple layers or shaping to create their finished appearance. When a pendant is made, for example, pieces of clear art glass are cut and layered, then fired in the kiln. This often takes most of a day to fuse then cool to a safe temperature where the glass isn’t fragile and can be safely handled. If cooled too rapidly or exposed to cool air too soon, the glass can crack from the temperature shock. Once cooled, pendants are shaped with a diamond bit glass grinder. After grinding, the pendants are returned to the kiln for annealing and a final polishing.
