The Story of Solutions
The Story of Solutions explores how we can move our economy in a more sustainable and just direction, starting with orienting ourselves toward a new goal.
In the current ‘Game of More’, we’re told to cheer a growing economy — more roads, more malls, more Stuff! — even though our health indicators are worsening, income inequality is growing and polar icecaps are melting.
But what if we changed the point of the game? What if the goal of our economy wasn’t more, but better — better health, better jobs and a better chance to survive on the planet?
Shouldn’t that be what winning means?
Non-Toxic Glass Wasp Trap
This sturdy, colored glass wasp trap will take a bite out of your yellowjacket or wasp problem. Simply add the included lure, a bit of water, and replace the stopper on the trap. Hang or place in an area with high wasp concentrations. Wasps fly up through the bottom hole, become trapped, and drown in the water. After two weeks replace the lure, or just add sweet liquid (lemonade works fine).
To clean: remove the stopper, empty, and rinse. Easy as can be!
Can be hung, or set on a flat surface. Wasps can fly up into the bottom even when it is sitting on the ground.
Measures 5″ in diameter x 8″ high.
Lure made in USA, trap made in China.
Provides a non-toxic, safe way to control wasps.

If gazing into the sparkling purple depths of an Amethyst suffuses you with a sense of awe, this is only to be expected. February’s purple birthstone has been found among the possessions of royalty throughout the ages. The intense violet hue of Amethyst appealed to early monarchs, perhaps because they often wore this color. Purple dye was scarce and expensive at one time, and so it was reserved for the garments of kings and queens. However, Trader Lou makes the gem affordable…and quite stunning.

Storage Bean Bag Chair
Storage Beanbag: A dual-purpose beanbag and storage system
These days it is hard to find a product that delivers a real new solution in the furniture industry. The patent pending Storage Beanbag by mimish is one of those rare new products that deserve the term innovation. It simultaneously serves as a beanbag and a storage system.
Andrea, a NYC mother of two with kids, needed a solution to de-clutter her own home, and came up with the genius idea of the Storage Beanbag with beans on the top and storage on the bottom. The storage compartment can be used for seasonal clothes, bedding, towels, stuffed animals, costumes, and much more. All unsightly clutter is hidden while you sit on it, use it as an ottoman, or watch the kids play with it. It is perfect for urban spaces, play rooms, bedrooms and dorm rooms where you always seem to lack both storage and seating solutions.
Proudly made in the United States, the Storage Beanbag is 30” in diameter and 17” high. It has a capacity of holding 5,650 cubic inches of storage. It comes in different fabrics and colors to match any room décor. The fully washable micro-suede is available in charcoal, navy blue, dusty rose, white and chocolate. The cotton fabrics are spot clean or dry clean and come in a color for every taste. Organic cotton launches in black, avocado and tomato, pure cotton in erase pink, purple, aqua, medium blue, butternut cup and orange.

BAD Blankies are created by Daniel and Brittany and they created these wonderful blankets because they slept hot at night and were not happy with all the synthetic choices in the bedding market. Through hard work and perseverance, they developed the current selection of blankets which we highly endorse here and in our stores. The blankets are made by hand here in the USA and are a great story! Support small manufacturing and enjoy an amazing product!
Why use hemp in the blankets?
Hemp has been called the American version of bamboo.
Hemp fiber is one of the strongest and most durable natural textile fibers. Products made from hemp will outlast their competition. Hemp is not only strong but it also holds its shape, stretching less than any other natural fiber on the market. This keeps hemp garments from stretching out or becoming distorted with long term usage. Hemp is known for its durability and also its comfort and style. The more hemp is used, the softer it gets. Hemp doesn’t wear out, it wears in. Hemp is naturally resistant to mold and fading due to ultraviolet light. Because of its porous nature, hemp is more water absorbent, and will dye and retain its color better than any fabric including cotton. This porous nature allows hemp to “breathe,” so that it is cool in warm weather. Furthermore, air which is trapped in the fibers is warmed by the body, making hemp garments naturally warm in cooler weather, making it the perfect material to blend with cotton for a great blanket!
Hemp is a fast growing crop and produces more fiber yield per acre than any other source. Hemp can produce up to 250% more fiber than cotton and up to 600% more fiber than flax using the same amount of land. Hemp grows best in warm tropical zones or in moderately cool, temperate climates, such as the United States. Hemp leaves the soil in excellent condition for any succeeding crop, especially when weeds may be troublesome. Where the ground permits, hemp’s strong roots descend for three feet or more. The roots anchor and protect the soil from runoff, building and preserving topsoil and subsoil structures similar to those of forests. Hemp does not exhaust the soil and hemp plants shed their leaves all through the growing season, adding rich organic matter to the topsoil and helping it retain moisture. Farmers have reported excellent hemp growth on land that had been cultivated steadily for nearly 100 years. There is a movement afoot to allow hemp to be grown as a legal crop in the United States.
